PRODUCT INFORMATION

General Description

Surprisingly Madagascar does not yield a lot of Amethyst. You often get Amethyst Agate geodes, but massive Amethyst deposits for polishing are few and far between. The region is known for its unique violet toned Amethyst material which is sometimes chevron in nature, with the mix of white and sometimes smokey, in banded layers. Material generally has high translucency but not often very high optic clarity. Gemmy violet coloured material is exceptionally rare. Obviously the Akansobe area yields exceptional material which tends to be polished into points, and not the less valued gallets, free forms, and other polished shapes. The polish and shape is always stunning from the Malagasy workshops. Price is grade dependant. Items are as shown.
