PRODUCT INFORMATION

General Description

Polychrome Jasper is a beautiful stone with a complex colour mix of greys, oranges, and sandy colours. Often called Desert or Picasso Jasper due to the stunning patterns and complex colours. It is believe to have been originally found as early as 2006 close to the Ocean Jasper deposits of Madagascar. The material is graded according to the complexity of patterns and colours. We only select from the top 20% of Polychrome material which is worked. Polychrome happens to be Nick May's favourite polished material.

Gabbro is a phaneritic, mafic intrusive igneous rock formed from the slow cooling of Magnesium-rich and Iron-rich magma into a holocrystalline mass deep beneath the Earth's surface. Slow-cooling, coarse-grained Gabbro is chemically equivalent to rapid-cooling, fine-grained Basalt. Gabbro is also known as Merlinite a name given to this "Marble" by Robert Simmons. This is a very attractive and largely inexpensive material which has a black matrix with grey to white specular inclusions, which produces a stunning range of features, patterns and contrast.
