General Description
Clear bright and Smokey Brandberg Quartz Crystals. Classic Smokey and clear, often optic single crystals, some scepters, double terminated, twins and window crystals. Beautiful and hard to get hold of in these quantities. Brandberg is arguably on the most collectible localities for Quartz in the world, and specially out of Africa. Regional specimens tend to either occur in basalt vugs, or sold as single crystals. Colour is most often Amethyst or Smokey, else a combination of both. The region is also renowned for optic to near optic quartz specimens. Phantoms and Enhydro are fairly common. Quartz clusters are often found in association with Calcite, Epidote, Prehnite, Stilbite and other regional oddities. The clusters occur in basalt vugs associated to volcanic activity, and are mined on a small scale by multiple individuals across a wide geographic area. Classic Brandberg Quartz specimens may have Lepidocrocite inclusions in the Quartz, but this is not always the case. The inclusions can be specular or needle-like in occurrence. True skeleton Quartz specimens tend to be Smokey Quartz, but this is not always the case. The Brandberg region produces exceptional specimen grade material which has become exceptionally collectible over the past few decades.The photographs are representative of either the entire stock item offered, else a representative sample of the broader batch. Variation is to be expected across individually selected batches. However, all batches / items within this stock item are fully sorted and selected accordingly to associated grade.
