While slicing is the primary transformation method, only a small fraction of the material is crafted into these various forms.

Much of our regional petrified wood dates back to the Triassic period and is botanically associated with the genus Podocarpus. The petrification process, where organic material is replaced by minerals and the original pore spaces are filled, perfectly exemplifies the transformation of organic material into a fossil. This remarkable phenomenon extends beyond wood to include all organic entities, from bacteria to vertebrates, preserving their forms for eternity.
