PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Septerye, affectionately known as "Dragon Eggs," are remarkable tri-color concretions composed of Aragonite (brown), Calcite (yellow), and Limestone (grey). The term "Septarian" is derived from "Septaria," a reference to concretions that display internal cavities or cracks.

These extraordinary minerals have a fascinating geological history, dating back 50 to 70 million years to the Earth's Cretaceous Period. During this time, massive volcanic eruptions produced molten sediment that attracted a wealth of marine life. As these prehistoric sea creatures perished, their chemical composition became intertwined with the surrounding sedimentary rock, gradually forming the unique nodules we admire today.

As global oceans receded, the water within these concretions evaporated, leading to the development of extensive internal cracks. Over time, the remaining chemicals from these ancient sea creatures crystallized, creating Aragonite "crusts" and drusy Calcite crystals, which account for the striking patterns within Septerye free forms.

Most Septerye originates from regions like Utah or Madagascar, areas that experienced similar geological conditions during that ancient period. These nodules boast an array of vibrant colors and intricate patterns, enhancing their allure. They are often polished into egg-shaped forms, aptly earning them the name "Dragon Eggs" due to their crystalline exposures. Other polished forms, such as spheres, hearts, and various cuts, frequently reveal crystalline areas that further enhance their beauty.

Explore the captivating world of Septerye Nodules and discover these geological wonders, each with its own unique story to tell.
