PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Septerye – The Enchanting "Dragon Eggs"

Discover the allure of Septerye, commonly known as "Dragon Eggs," a captivating type of tri-color concretion composed of Aragonite (brown), Calcite (yellow), and Limestone (grey). The name "Septarian" comes from "Septaria," referring to these remarkable nodules with internal cavities or cracks.

Dating back 50 to 70 million years to the Cretaceous Period, Septerye minerals have a fascinating geological history. Formed during massive volcanic eruptions, these concretions began as molten sediment that attracted marine life. As these prehistoric sea creatures perished, their remains mixed with the sediment, eventually creating the unique nodules we see today.

As the global oceans receded, the water within these concretions evaporated, leading to extensive internal cracks. Over time, the chemicals from these ancient sea creatures crystallized into Aragonite "crusts" and drusy Calcite crystals, which contribute to the striking patterns seen in Septerye specimens.

Primarily sourced from regions like Utah and Madagascar, where similar geological conditions existed, Septerye nodules are renowned for their vibrant colors and intricate patterns. They are often polished into egg-shaped forms, earning the nickname "Dragon Eggs" due to their mesmerizing crystalline exposures. Other polished shapes, such as spheres, hearts, and various cuts, reveal additional crystalline areas that enhance their natural beauty.

Explore the captivating world of Septerye Nodules and add a piece of geological wonder to your collection, each with its own unique story and stunning visual appeal.
