Lazulit ist ein blaues Mineral, das Magnesium, Eisen und Aluminiumphosphat enthält. Lazulit kristallisiert im monoklinen System, Material aus Madagaskar stammt jedoch aus einer massiven nichtkristallinen Lagerstätte. Lazulit ist ein ziemlich seltener Stein, der eine Reihe von Farbintensitäten aufweist, von hellem Blau mit manchmal gebänderter Farbverteilung bis hin zu einfarbigeren Farben und tieferem, dunklerem Blau. Das Material selbst weist tendenziell kleinere, spiegelnde, ascheflockenartige Einschlüsse auf.
