PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Libethenite, a prized mineral species from the Congo, making an appearance just once or perhaps twice a year. These treasures are few and far between, predominantly appearing as small-sized specimens, each showcasing varying degrees of crystalline splendour resting on a matrix reminiscent of dolomite. Libethenite, a highly sought-after Copper Phosphate hydroxide mineral, unveils striking dark green orthorhombic crystals that immediately captivate the eye. This remarkable mineral found its origins back in 1823 in Ľubietová, Slovakia, acquiring its name from the German name of that locality, Libethen. Known for its formation in the oxidized zones of Copper ore deposits, Libethenite emerges as a secondary Copper Phosphate mineral, often deriving its phosphate content from the weathering of Apatite and other phosphates like Monazite and Xenotime.

From the depths of the Congo, this mineral reveals itself sporadically, showcasing its exceptional rarity and becoming an incredibly prized collectible. Each specimen possesses an extraordinary array of orthorhombic crystal clusters, presenting a stunning visual treat for enthusiasts and collectors alike. Distinguished by its scarcity and captivating aesthetics, Libethenite is an extraordinary addition to any collection, offering a glimpse into the sheer beauty and rarity found within the world of minerals. Price is grade dependent.
