Commonly referred to as Pink Calcite or Cobalt Calcite, Salrose is a term often used interchangeably for both cobalt-bearing Dolomite and Calcite, particularly from the Congo. While the material can potentially be pink Dolomite, it is frequently challenging to distinguish between the Calcite and Dolomite hosts, especially in microcrystalline forms.
Salrose generally describes the "pink stuff" from Copper-bearing deposits in Southern and Central Africa. Specimens may sometimes show associations with Malachite or other copper-based minerals, although this is not always the case.
Our collection features a range from pale pink, non-gemmy specimens to highly optic, deep pink gemmy material, the latter being exceptionally rare. Each piece is graded based on color intensity, crystalline exposure, and size, which ultimately influences its pricing.
