PRODUCT INFORMATION

General Description

Malagasy Rhodonite from Ambindavato, Madagascar: Rhodonite, a distinguished member of the pyroxenoid group of minerals, is a captivating manganese inosilicate with a chemical composition of SiO₃. Its crystal structure conforms to the triclinic system, and it typically presents as cleavable to compact masses, showcasing its signature rose-red color. Our collection features a new discovery of Rhodonite, meticulously mined in the Ambindavato region of Madagascar and skillfully polished on-site. This unique material boasts an exceptionally rare and exquisite rich pink to deep red hue, creating an eye-catching contrast with black Chromite. Notably, the pink coloration can vary from a dusky pink to semi-gemmy, an exceptionally scarce attribute. Rhodonite is renowned for its exceptional hardness, and each piece is expertly polished to reveal its inherent beauty. Pricing is based on grade, and the items are presented exactly as showcased. The name Rhodonite originates from the Greek word "rhodos," signifying "rose," a direct reference to the stone's distinct pink or rose-red color. Additionally, it's worth noting that banded Rhodonite achieved widespread popularity as an ornamental stone in the 1930s after its discovery in Argentina, and this regional variety is sometimes affectionately referred to as "Inca Rose." Price is grade dependant. Items are as shown.
