Allgemeine Beschreibung

Kyanit ist typischerweise ein blaues Alumosilikatmineral, das normalerweise in aluminiumreichen metamorphen Pegmatiten und/oder Sedimentgesteinen vorkommt. Kyanit in metamorphen Gesteinen weist im Allgemeinen auf Drücke von mehr als vier Kilobar hin. Unsere Kristalle stammen aus den Karoi-Lagerstätten in Simbabwe, die in Spalten vorkommen, die oft mit schwarzem Glimmer gefüllt sind. Die Kristallgrößen sind meist klein bis mittelgroß, wobei weniger als 5 % der Ablagerungen größere Kristalle in Probenqualität ergeben. Kyanit ist eine sehr gefragte Steinart für die Schmuckherstellung und auf dem Alternativmarkt. Simbabwischer Kyanit hat eine satte blaue Farbe, aber die Edelsteinreinheit ist unterschiedlich. Andere Farben sind aus anderen Teilen der Welt bekannt; über schwarze, grüne und orangefarbene Kyanitkristalle wurde bereits früher berichtet. Der Preis ist sortenabhängig.
