PRODUCT INFORMATION

General Description

VU Active Hyalite associated to collectible Erongo tourmaline schorl medium sized pair of clusters! Classic cabinet sized high quality very good to A grade selected specimens.

Hyalite is a form of opal with a glassy and clear appearance which may exhibit an internal play of colours if natural inclusions are present. It is also called Muller's glass, water opal and jalite. The name Müller's glass derived from the name of its discoverer, Franz-Joseph Müller von Reichenstein. We often come across specimens from Namibia - else Hyalite co-occurs as a minor side show in association with Quartz or Tourmaline from Namibia. Its is not very common to find exclusively Hyalite specimens.

Schorl is the most common form of Tourmaline. It may be highly lustrous and form in beautiful crystals, and is one of the most aesthetic black minerals known. It may form in tiny dense needles within a Quartz crystal where it is known as Tourmalinated Quartz. Our black Tourmaline mostly comes from the Erongo Region of Namibia which yields some of the best specimen grade material in the world. Specimens of Tourmaline broadly tend to have Mercedes or acicular terminations, occurring as either single crystals or clusters which display a wide range of habits. Minerals associations from Erongo can include Hyalite Opal, Quartz, Smokey Quartz, Feldspar and Orthoclase. Always a winner in any retail environment as highly sought after. The deposits around the Erongo Mountain region of Namibia yield some of the best Tourmaline specimens in the world.

Items are grade dependent. Item/s are as shown.
