LEAD GLASS
Lead glass, also commonly known as crystal, is a type of glass where lead oxide replaces the calcium content typically found in regular potash glass. It contains at least 18-40% lead oxide by mass, with modern lead crystal requiring a minimum of 24% lead oxide to officially be classified as such. The presence of lead enhances the glass's optical properties, giving it a higher refractive index which results in greater clarity, brilliance, and dispersion of light.
