PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Septerye Sauvage – The "Dragon Egg"
Septerye Sauvage, commonly known as "Dragon's Eggs," from Mahajanga, Madagascar, are captivating Septarian nodules formed approximately 50 to 70 million years ago during the Cretaceous Period. These unique geological treasures consist of a tri-color concretion featuring brown Aragonite, yellow Calcite, and grey Limestone, resulting from ancient volcanic activity that attracted marine life to molten sediment. As the oceans receded, the nodules dried and cracked, allowing the crystallization of Aragonite "crusts" and drusy Calcite within the fissures, often creating striking patterns and occasional crystalline exposures. Polished into egg-shaped forms, these "Dragon's Eggs" showcase intricate, web-like designs and earthy tones, making them highly prized by collectors and decorators for their aesthetic appeal and fascinating origin story.
