Allgemeine Beschreibung

Nur eine Handvoll dieser Exemplare kommen ein- oder vielleicht zweimal im Jahr aus dem Kongo! Meist kleine Exemplare mit unterschiedlichem Grad an kristalliner Freilegung, die auf einer dolomitähnlichen Matrix sitzen. Generell gilt: Libethenit ist ein seltenes Kupferphosphathydroxid-Mineral. Es bildet auffällige, dunkelgrüne orthorhombische Kristalle. Es wurde 1823 in Ľubietová, Slowakei, entdeckt und ist nach dem deutschen Namen dieses Ortes (Libethen) benannt. Es handelt sich um ein sekundäres Kupferphosphatmineral, das in der oxidierten Zone von Kupfererzlagerstätten vorkommt. Das Phosphat entsteht häufig aus der Verwitterung von Apatit und anderen gesteinsbildenden Phosphaten wie Monazit und Xenotim. Dieses Mineral ist sporadisch im Kongo erhältlich, aber außergewöhnlich selten und sehr sammelbar! Absolut atemberaubende orthombische Kristallcluster. Der Preis ist sortenabhängig.
