SUGILITE

Sugilite is a rare mineral ranging from pink to purple, part of the cyclosilicate family. It forms prismatic crystals and massive formations. Wessels mine Sugilite, especially gel material, is highly valued, with specimen-grade pieces becoming rare. It’s found in veins or fibrous crystals in a Ferro-Manganese matrix and may include Richterite (blue). High-grade Sugilite is crafted into jewelry, while specimen-grade is prized by collectors, with prices from R1500 to R20000 per kilogram. Zambian Sugilite is also collectible.
