SERPENTINE
Serpentine is a mineral or rock primarily made of hydrous magnesium silicate, usually dull green with a mottled appearance. Named in 1564 by Georgius Agricola from the Latin "serpens," meaning snake, it reflects the mineral's resemblance to some snakes. The Serpentine group includes several related minerals. This material is favored by our expert Zimbabwean stone masons, who carve beautiful animal figures, jewelry, and home decor products.
